Participation Can Begin With One Person
You do not need a title, formal role, wealth, authority, professional qualifications, a large audience or recognition to contribute to greater harmony.
You can begin with what is within your reach:
- one conversation;
- one act of kindness;
- one apology;
- one expression of gratitude;
- one effort to understand;
- one decision not to pass anger forward;
- one person helped;
- one relationship repaired;
- one conflict prevented.
Participation does not necessarily mean becoming involved with Spread Harmony as an organisation.
It can simply mean doing something within your own life, relationships or circumstances that may contribute to greater harmony.
Participate in a Way That Is Right for You
If you would like to support or become more involved with Spread Harmony, there are different ways to participate.
There is no membership fee.
Participation is an invitation, not a status.
People can participate in different ways and to different degrees. No particular form of participation makes one person more important than another.
Harmony Supporter
A Harmony Supporter is anyone who supports the purpose of Spread Harmony and wishes to encourage greater harmony in ways they consider appropriate.
There is no requirement to undertake particular activities or accept formal responsibilities. Support can begin simply through the way we live, relate to others and act within our own circumstances.
Harmony Host
A Harmony Host takes a more active role in helping create opportunities for others to explore or engage with ideas and resources that may contribute to greater harmony.
A Host may, for example, help make resources available, bring people together, support conversations or assist with Spread Harmony activities. Hosts provide opportunities and support while respecting the agency of others.
Harmony Steward
A Harmony Steward is a Harmony Host who accepts responsibility and accountability for a particular task, activity or area of Spread Harmony.
Stewardship is about responsibility – not status. Stewards are expected to act in ways that serve the purpose, respect people and uphold the principles of Spread Harmony.
Different Roles, Shared Purpose
Supporter, Host and Steward are not ranks. They describe different ways of participating and different levels of responsibility.
A person may contribute meaningfully without holding any title at all.
The value of a good action does not depend on a title, position or recognition.
